Design II Artist Project

This is my most ambitious project yet in Design II, the Artist Project.  We had to pick a professional artist and analyze their works.  Pick out our favorite of their works, and then try to draw said piece ourselves in our own style using said artist's color palette.  I choosing to do something different, picked as my professional artist of choice.

Now, this was tricky cause she does photography work and this was watercolor painting.  I also realize this is not good watercolor, but I learned so much on painting people from this one piece, that this is going to serve as my benchmark of where I started with this medium.  I will come back and do this piece again when I am better, so I can compare and see how much I have improved.  For now though, this is my burning reminder of where I started, and I can only go up from here.

The picture itself was a hand drawn sketch I made using three of as reference.  The three are Holy, Venus rising, and Raspberry-banana  I rather liked the pattern on her dress, and I didn't want to lose it with the arm crossed over her, so I threw it in the background and threw my signature on it.  I was rather fond of the way the makeup came out around her eyes, though I did not get the cheeks as well as I would have liked.  All in all though, I did enjoy making this piece and I ended up with a 94% so who am I to complain ^_^
